My Story
Michelle’s aspiration for legacy is one that models the modern epitome of the American dream. Born and raised deep in the south (Texas), her childhood was marked by poverty, and scarred by abuse. From a young age, Michelle learned that she loved to write and began to write poetry and songs.
As she grew into her adolescent years, her experiences lead her into deep soul-searching and a committed relationship with Christ-Characterized by strength, faith, hope, love, integrity, and determination during a turbulent adolescence, Michelle’s writing provided her with the inspiration to delve deeper by entering her first poetry competition with a poem titled, ‘Brighter Days’ which she won an award for in 2001.
With hopes of landing a lucrative deal for her literary skills, Michelle traveled and performed her poetry for audiences throughout Texas, but her reality for a traditional deal remained empty. She never imagined that ten years later, she would take a HUGE leap of faith by moving to Los Angeles California, where she would begin to seek out opportunities and open doors that aligned with her “gift.”
Fast-forward 22 years later (2023) and Michelle is still at work to accomplish her greatest dreams. She is a first-generation author, having written and self-published three books, and is a first-generation Founder of a youth nonprofit organization named S.P.E.A.K. OUT LOUD where she mentors youth and advocates for children and families plagued by trauma and abuse.
